FRANCE
Bordeaux
We have sourced a selection of well priced wines and allowing for the punitive Duty tax increases and the free fall of the pound sterling against the euro, these represent very good value for money. Ch Deville is of particular interest - 100% Merlot and very smooth to drink.
Beaujolais
These examples reflect the excellent flavours to be found in quality wines from the district.
Burgundy
There are some good choices of inexpensive wines here –a surprise considering everything!
All come from single domaines and show the results of labours of love by their respective owners.
Loire, Saumur & Touraine
Sauvignon de Touraine is light almost pungent with a crisp finish. Cheverny is a junior Sancerre
showing lively gooseberry crispiness with a full aroma and creamy finish. Fiou’s Sancerrre is
typical of the new and more refined style emanating from this very traditional area. Bourgeuil
is light and refreshing, whilst Chinon has a fruity medium bodied character.
Regional
The Mediterranee trio and Gaillac make perfect everyday drinking. The Pays d’Oc wines
offer a refreshing change to the more commercial styles . Cotes de Gacogne is a perfect blend
for aperitif or a partner to light dishes and Gaillac offers an enticing style which always find favour.
Mas de Daumas, Gassac - Languedoc-Roussillon
These are all exquisite wines from a remarkable domaine. Biodynamics is the word here
i.e. only natural methods are used. The vines grow on deep, well drained soil with the microclimate
enjoyed by the upper Gassac vall allowing longer growing season. The wines are quite beautiful
and should be treated with due reverence !!

ITALY
New is Ca’ di Ponte Rosato - bright pink in colour and fruity with Chianti Radda, a good
quaffable wine. Inzolio is a mellow dry style and a good alternative to generic Pinot Grigio.
Ca’ di Ponti from Sicily are excellent value and will appeal to all taste buds! The Mezza Corona
Pinot Grigio has distinctive overtones of almonds.

NEW ZEALAND
Moko Black is a very stylish wine, refined with elegance. Dog Point Sauvignon is made by the former
wine maker at Cloudy Bay and the similarities are evident. The Pinot Noir has a well balanced structure
yielding a perfumed aroma and scented flavour with a firm finish. Felton Road Chardonnay is from a
small boutique estate.

easy drinking wines. Navajas Rioja gains new friends after every introduction and Urbina
is typical of the more approachable style now being adopted in this famous region.

Jean-Paul Deville has a high proportion of Pinot Noir giving good weight and a fine “biscuity”
texture. Ruinart is renowned for it’s exquisite style and attention to detail. Philipponnat is
a long established family business based in Ay goes back to 1697.The Royale Reserve consists of 25
different cuvees. Laurent Perrier is one of the classic houses.
